Her work can be seen not only within Japan, but also in the USA, Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.  Ishii has received many international awards from authoritative organizations including the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. She received the 2000 Culture Award from Architectural Institute of Japan and the "Shiji-hosho"(Purple Ribbon Medal of Honor) from the national government of Japan.
