To avoid any delays carefully read the descriptions below and choose the correct interest category that applies to you within this committee.Interest Category Selection [SOLUTION NEEDED]* Producer (P): An employee, agent or representative of a manufacturer o flight sources, lighting equipment, accessories, controls or software; or an employee of an organization that sells, represents, or distributes these products. Generally speaking, producers are those who (or whose company) would stand to gain financial benefit from the sale of products or services that the document may effect. USER-Specifier (US): An individual, or an employee or representitive of an organization who designs, specifies, purchases or maintains lighting equipment, accessories, or controls for use by his or her own organization or for use by othe rorganizations that he or she represents (e.g. an electrical contractor employed by and for the user; an engineer, architect, consultant, of design professional who represents the user). Generally speaking, this category includes those directly involved in the specification or purchase of equipment that the document may affect. USER-Affected (UA): An individual, or an employee or representative of an organization, who refers to IES standards and operates, maintains, or coordinates lighting within their facility (e.g. facility manager, building engineer), or is a user of the space directly affected by the lighting within the facility (e.g., a librarian in a library, nurse in a hospital). Generally speaking, this category includes thos directly affected by the installation of lighting equipment specified by those in the IS category. USER-Public Interest (UP): An employee, agent or representative of a utility company, city, state, provincial, or federal agency, or other public-interest entitiy representing user interests and involved with the specification and/or purchasing of equipment that the document may affect. This uer category excludes those in the GGR category. GENERAL INTEREST-Academic, Research (GAR): An individual, employee or representative of an accredited, post-secondary academic institution whose primary responsibility is either instructing enrolled students or who is actively engaged in research. (This category does not mean you are "generally interested". This category pertains only to those in academia and research fields.) GENERAL INTEREST-Government, Regulatory (GGR): An individual, employee or representative of a government or code developing agency that may adopt or refer to the standard within the agency's own standards or regulations. (This category does not mean you are "generally interested". This category pertains only to those in government and regulatory fields.) Organizational Member Category (OM): A representitive from an allied organization, appointed by that organization. Agreement between the IES and the corresponding organization would be required, as a Memorandum or Understanding, formal Joint Publication agreement, or friendship agreement. TESTING LABORATORY - Test Equipment User (TEU): An individual, employee, or representative of an organization who conducts measurements using the test method as a third party or for a Producer that has demonstrated no conflict of interest, such as through accreditation to ISO 17025. TESTING LABORATORY - Test Equipment Manufacturer (TEM): An individual, employee, or representative of a manufacturer of test equipment used for lighting photometry or to test lighting accessories or controls; or an employee of an organization that sells or distributes such test equipment. Members of IES Technical Committees are expected to fulfill the following minimum requirements: Attend at least one (1-hour) conference all or meeting per month. Be available for 2-3 hours a month in between calls to take on various tasks. Voting Members are required to vote. (Advisory Members, i.e., non-voting, also receive all information and may also comment. Tasks will be assigned by the committee chair based on the ability to undertake the given task.Please check off at least 3 of the following assignments you prefer (but are not limited to) as a member of this committee.* Write draft material and relevant content for the standard Provide comments on drafts and ballot files Review ballot comments and write responses Find/source HD images and assist obtaining copyright permissions Create graphics of charts Write citations and identify reference papers Create equations or calculations Source and review research information Please write how would your expertise benefit this committee.*IES Technical Committees succeed through inspirational leaders. For future reference: please note if you would be willing to support the committee in any of the leadership positions below.* Chair: The Chair is the main leader and interface between the committee and IES Staff. The Chair should understand the ANSI/IES voting process and help to reach the necessary minimum requirements for a successful ballot. Each Chair will work with IES Staff to analyze ballot comments (or delegate an appointee to do so) and determine which comments, if any, should be reconsidered by the committee. The Chair is also responsible for reviewing committee applications; for making recommendations to IES Staff for new members or for changes of member status from Advisory to Voting; and for maintaining Interest Category Balance of voting members. The Chair, with Staff, should review the committee membership and make any recommendations for removal (with cause) of on-active members. VIce-Chair: The VC is usually in the line of succession, and so should be up -to-date on the committee activities. The VC should also regularly communicate with the Chair regarding meeting agendas and assist the Chair with any procedural tasks and project needs. Secretary: Is also in the line of succession, takes meeting minutes and posts them to the committee site, and makes corrections as needed. The Secretary may also assist with any other communications between the leadership and the committee members.
