The IES relies on technical committees of subject matter experts to write our Standards. The IES achieves consensus through a rigorous process that includes a diverse set of people with knowledge of the topics in question, including those experts in related fields and non-IES members.
IES Technical committees are divided into three groups of Science, Practice, and Applications. You can explore all of our committees on this page by looking in each group heading, or use the pull-down menu that sorts our committees alphabetically.
If you are interested in participating in our Standards Development process, we invite you to share your expertise in helping develop future lighting recommendations by submitting an application for membership on the committees that are listed in the Open Committees section of this page. Please review the IES Technical Committee Code of Conduct [PDF] before submitting your application.
