Ultraviolet Germicidal Light-COVID Destroyer Webinar

Ultraviolet Germicidal Lighting is an emerging technology which can reduce Covid 19 populations in hospitals, restaurants, offices, retail outlets and hotels. Dr. Bahnfleth will illustrate the germicidal lighting spectra and focus on Ultraviolet-C (UVC) as the most effective spectra for destroying the Covid 19 virus. He will describe the various lighting sources and fixture types, their deployment and their strengths and drawbacks.

William P. BahnflethWilliam P. Bahnfleth is a professor and director of the Indoor Environment Center in the Department of Architectural Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. Dr. Bahnfleth teaches undergraduate courses in chilled-water systems, hot-water and steam systems, and indoor air quality. His research interests cover a wide variety of indoor environmental control topics including chilled-water pumping systems, stratified thermal energy storage, protection of building occupants from indoor bioaerosol releases and ultraviolet germicidal irradiation systems. He consults on the design of chilled-water thermal energy storage systems and has been involved in more than 20 projects worldwide.
