Webinar: A Specifier’s Guide to TM-30: Color Rendition from the Designer’s Perspective

13 January 2022 | 8:00 am - 8:45 am PST

IES Los Angeles Section

Six years after its introduction, one would think ANSI/IES TM-30 IES Method for Evaluating Light Source Color rendition with its many potential benefits for LED specification would have replaced the outdated metric of CRI by now. However, reality demonstrates that many manufacturers, specifiers, and industry standards still lean heavily on the less complex CRI metric for color rendition. Join us for this honest discussion on the obstacles of project implementation of TM-30 with tips and tricks offered by lighting practitioners on how to finally ditch CRI and start benefiting from TM-30.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Investigate the different ways color rendition specifications of fidelity, vividness, and preference can better a project.
  2. Understand the common missteps while seeking to find TM-30 data for color-mixing systems.
  3. Determine ways to combat current industry obstacles for implementation of TM-30 metrics.
  4. Incorporate TM-30 metrics into project specifications by following real project examples.
