COVID-19 has affected everyone in 2020. One proven measure that can kill SARS-CoV-2 and other viruses is the use of ultraviolet radiation (UV) to disinfect spaces and make them safe. But there is more we need to learn to solve this complex problem we face today.

Previously at Cree Lighting, Mai helped transform the lighting industry to LED as Global Market Development Manager at the startup in LED lighting. As Cree’s Product Strategy Manager, she guided advanced technology R&D and innovative LED lights/PoE controls development. Mai has two decades experience in lighting design/electrical engineering/project management in Los Angeles & San Francisco, California, where she managed diverse healthcare & commercial projects including hospital/MOB, science/labs, civic, educational, hospitality, retail, landscape, urban/campus development, & more.Mai is also Lighting Certified, licensed NC Building General Contractor & NC/CA Real Estate Broker.

Aparna started her journey in lighting at Cree in 2009 and is Lighting Certified (LC). She currently handles program management for key customers and is one of the technical advisor/business development managers in the Aurora Group for electro-mechanical component manufacturers as well as lighting products for Triangle Lighting Solutions. She has over 25 years of experience.During this pandemic period, Aparna has been studying the health effects of UV-C and germicidal UV. In this presentation, she will present the information regarding the health effects and downsides and cautions regarding using UV-C/Germicidal UV lighting.
Robert L. Henderson, LC, CLEP, Director of Training RAB Lighting
Bob has worked in lighting over the last 35 years as a consultant, lighting center principal instructor, lighting sales agent, utility lighting specialist and director of lighting and controls training. He served three terms as section president of the IES Raleigh Section. Bob has presented over 75 different lighting seminars on indoor and outdoor lighting and controls during his career. Bob served on the NCQLP Test committee for 10 years including chair for two years and later as their senior advisor. Bob is the lead instructor for preparation courses for the LC (Lighting Certified) by the NCQLP and sponsored by RAB Lighting and the CLEP (Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional) and sponsored by the Association of Energy Engineers. For the last four and a half years, he has served as Director of Training at RAB Lighting.
