BOLD, LLC used soft, indirect light to create the illusion of natural light in a New York City wellness club, resulting in an urban escape that earned an IES Illumination Award of Merit.

How They Did It: The Well

The heart of the club features a decorative pendant formed by 300 hand-shaped capiz shells, supplemented by soft architectural cove lighting.

How They Did It: The Well

Inspired by James Turrell, the meditation room includes fabric-wrapped panel walls incorporating warm indirect uplight, as well as a mock oculus for circadian rhythm therapy. Minimal and concealed accent lighting highlights architectural surfaces and perimeters.
