Mindful MaterialsA group of prominent lighting design firms and architects is urging their colleagues to sign on to an initiative that would encourage lighting manufacturers to be more conscious of sustainable design when developing luminaires and other products.

The “Lighting Advocacy Letter,” found on the Mindful Materials website, was inspired by the AIA Materials Pledge and aims to initiate a dialogue with lighting manufacturers about how to “align intent and action around a common

framework for sustainability.” For lighting designers and specifiers, the letter is an “opportunity to publicly commit to making more informed material choices, specification changes and support an ongoing dialogue with manufacturers to reduce the impacts of the built environment.” To learn more, visit www.mindfulmaterials.com/lighting-advocacy-letter.
