Kansas City Convention Center Converts to LED

The Kansas City Convention Center has retrofitted all exhibit hall lighting by installing 850 new LED fixtures. The 400-W high-bays (Neptun) replace 1,130-W HID fixtures, driving a 64.7% reduction in energy use and a projected $5.97 million savings in energy costs over the 20-years fixture life.

Lighting quality—and a better event experience—was another project consideration, Neptun reports. The high-bays are equipped with noise-free LED drivers, eliminating the buzz common with the previous ballasts. Classical music concerts are among the new events being pursued. In addition the 5000K CCT and CRI of 85 position the venue to host fashion design trade shows or similar events.
