As the buzz surrounding light and health heats up, some manufacturers are responding by restructuring operations to leverage the demand for products. Lighting Science, for example, recently spun off its biological lighting business into Healthe Inc. The company is “riding on the momentum of growing demand,” according to the official announcement, by launching a new line of commercial products and incorporating consumer products developed by Lighting Science over the past decade.
The combination of products under the new brand also expands Lighting Science’s reach. “It is not only a human solution but an economic solution,” says Khim Lee, Healthe’s CEO. “The challenges we are addressing touch almost every industry—from reducing hospital-acquired infections to improving workplace productivity, decreasing absenteeism and providing a better sleep experience.”
