Modern Integration

In 2017, The Duke golf club in the Netherlands expanded to include The Duke Executive Suites. Connected to the original clubhouse building by an underground pathway, the new building houses 20 suites that blend new technology with The Duke’s traditional look and feel. To create the transition, The Duke’s management team sought easy and intuitive lighting control for the new rooms that wouldn’t interfere with the location’s traditional aesthetic.

Using Lutron’s myRoom plus—a solution designed for hotel rooms—lighting scenes turn on and off as guests enter and exit a room. The scenes can also be controlled via manual selection with a keypad. The system includes the ability to control lights, blinds and temperature. “Our guests appreciate the possibility to select lighting scenes, and they like the look and touch of the keypads and thermostats,” says Marcel Arts, general manager of The Duke. In keeping with the location’s aesthetic, each suite is equipped with wall-mounted keypads and thermostats in a homogeneous black-polymer finish.
