IES Sustaining Members – New and Increased Member Benefits

Dear Sustaining Member,

Over the last few years, the IES Board of Directors and Staff have been focused on increasing the value that our members receive from the Society. This can be found in our dedication to deliver increased and improved educational content, quality in-person events, and the soon to be launched Lighting Library on a digital platform, amongst other services.

While these improvements have primarily impacted our individual members, we want you to know that we have not forgotten about our sustaining members. In fact, we recently approved a new structure that increases the benefits for the organization itself, not just for employees from your company that are individual members.

Here is a description of the benefits that were previously made available to our sustaining members…
Current Sustaining Member Categories

The new structure for sustaining members includes many new services and benefits that were not previously available. Under the old model, sustaining member categories were determined for each entity based on a company’s annual lighting revenues. Now, you have the flexibility to select the sustaining member category that best meets the needs for your organization and allows you to maximize the services and benefits provided by the IES.

New Sustaining Member Categories

As you can see, it was important that we identified a way to increase the value that you receive as a sustaining member of IES. Unlike the old categories, these new levels of sustaining membership do not come with complimentary individual memberships. Instead, they come with complimentary access for your individual employees to utilize the new Lighting Library (once launched in August 2020) and discounts on individual memberships determined by your category, in addition to all the other new services available. Based on our conversations with existing sustaining members when creating these new categories, one of the most important benefits will be the new tax deduction for each category.

These changes will go into effect on January 1, 2020, but you will get to experience these increased benefits upon your renewal of your sustaining membership this next year.

We will be in touch with more information as we near your sustaining member renewal date. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
