January 15, 2016 – 2015 offered some glimmers of hope in our nation’s capital. There were a number of bills passed with bi-partisan support–13, in fact. Of those, two had provisions directly related to lighting and/or energy. The House passed H.R. 8, The North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act of 2015. On December 18, the President signed into law H.R. 2029, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2016. The former promotes energy efficiency inside the federal government. The Senate version has not yet been passed. See https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/8 for details. The latter bill (H.R. 2029) extends the 179D Commercial Building Tax Deduction through December 31, 2016.
