About the IES Leadership Forum

Every year, volunteer members and lighting professionals gather at the Leadership Forum event held in conjunction with the IES Annual Conference to learn more about the lighting industry and leadership within the IES while building valuable relationships and furthering their lighting careers. The purpose of the Leadership Forum is to help leaders at all levels of the Society work effectively with volunteers and strengthen their leadership skills. The program offers career development, networking, and learning opportunities for IES volunteers and industry professionals.

The IES Leadership Forum is traditionally a full day in-person program, designed by the IES Leadership Forum Committee. The Committee focuses on topics that will help the attendee become more effective when returning to their respective Section/Committee and career by focusing on time management, team building, project management, communication, and leadership skills, among other topics. Because of the transition to a virtual Annual Conference in 2020, the Committee was tasked with creating the same enriching experience using an online platform and attendance was great both years! This year the Committee is developing an in-person program and looking forward to interactive activities pulled from the virtual platform that will further enhance the already engaging event.
