Clayton Gordon, IES Marketing Manager, to Retire

December 21, 2018

Clayton GordonNew York, December 21, 2018 – Clay Gordon, IES Marketing Manager, is set to retire at the end of 2018 after serving 10 years with the IES. During that time, his responsibilities have ranged from marketing IES standards, research, conferences, education, awards, and LD+A advertising support through emails, social media outreach, print advertising, and press releases.

Under Gordon’s direction, IES marketing materials such as the LD+A Media Kit, have received numerous association awards over the course of his tenure. Other areas have included coordinating the IES booth at LIGHTFAIR and promoting IES events during the show, the Progress Report, Illumination Awards, Teachers of Lighting Workshop and other valuable member programs. The development of the IES database has also been a factor in promoting all IES programs and membership to the lighting industry.

“In addition to promotion and outreach, responding to IES member questions has always been an important priority,” said Gordon. “As part of the IES staff, I felt an important obligation to be responsive to member needs and I derived satisfaction in being able to assist those seeking help or answers to questions, whether it was through emails, phone calls or in person discussions at events, such as the IES booth at LIGHTFAIR.”

“I wish the IES continued success as it repositions itself for the changes and challenges that are occurring around us. Collaborative efforts of both staff and members will go a long way toward meeting the goals that the society sets for itself. It was a genuine pleasure working with my staff colleagues, both past and present.”

Paul Tarricone, Publisher/Editor of LD+A, offered these observations: “Clay was often the person behind the scenes who made the engine of IES communications hum smoothly—everything from LD+A promotion to our booth at LIGHTFAIR to publicizing our technical documents and events. You may not have known Clay personally but his imprint was on virtually all of our member programs. We wish him a happy and healthy retirement.”

“Since the day I joined the IES nearly 3 years ago, Clay has always been an individual that I knew I could rely upon. Those that have had the opportunity to speak with Clay during his tenure at IES, know that he truly cares about each member and the society. He has been a great representative for what we stand for and I am pleased that our careers at IES overlapped. We wish Clay a happy and healthy retirement!” said Tim Licitra, IES Executive Director.
