[10.1.15.2] The portion of a means of egress that segregates all other spaces in the building or structure by fire-resistant construction in order to provide a protected way of travel to the exit discharge. Exits include exterior exit doors, exit passageways, horizontal exits, and separated exit stairs or ramps.
