Jennifer Long

Jennifer Long

Jennifer Long is the founding director of Jennifer Long Visual Ergonomics. Since 2006 she has provided visual ergonomics consultancy services related to vision and digital displays, lighting and glare. Initially trained as an optometrist, Jennifer obtained a Master of Safety Science in 2000 so that she could solve vision problems at their source – in the workplace. Then she realised that it would be even better if she could prevent these problems from occurring. This led to the completion of a PhD in 2012, and to collaborative opportunities with organisations such as Control Centres Australia, where she offers early schematic design advice to design-out vision-related issues before they are built into control rooms.

In addition to her consultancy work, Jennifer is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, UNSW, Australia, and the Vice President of CIE (Australia). She is past-chair of the International Ergonomics Association Visual Ergonomics Technical Committee, and past-President of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia.
